About

Matthew Ouellette MS, NCC, CCSH

Within each of us lies the innate ability for healing, change, and growth. The space that is created in therapy can act as the catalyst for discovering your unique strengths and barriers to achieving the growth you may be seeking. As a therapist, I am privileged to join you on your path and bear witness to your discovery of self and the personal meaning you find within your life experiences. As a therapist, my goal is to hold a space, free of judgment, offering the safety necessary to allow for honest reflection and the freedom to contemplate and explore your life and experiences.

Matthew Ouellette holds a Masters of Science (M.S.), in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology, from the University of Vermont. Matthew is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). Additionally, Matthew is Certified in Clinical Sleep Health and brings many years of experience working in clinical sleep health to his counseling practice.

Theraputic Approach

My work and practice begins with an open heart and a curious mind. I draw upon the dedication and wisdom of those who have and continue to offer their lives to help others find their way. With these qualities guiding me, the work I do is naturally eclectic and integrative, as it considers all aspects of the human condition (mind, heart and body).

Counseling can look and work differently for each individual. I work from the perspective that it is a collaborative effort. You have the deepest understanding of your life and with your commitment and courage to engage in a therapeutic relationship, a space is created to allow for acknowledgement, healing and growth. You get to choose what you want to work on and together we create the map to get there.

Working with me, you can:

  • Express and explore what matters to you and establish this as an anchor of purpose for your life.

  • Build confidence in trusting your own intuition.

  • Honor old ways of protection and survival, while realizing and establishing new ways to thrive.

  • Find a rhythm that fosters your personal growth in your own time and own way.

  • Identify and challenge that which keeps you stuck.

  • Accept and meet inevitable limitations that may naturally exists at a given time in your life with compassion.

  • Realize, develop and engage the strengths you have to participate in your life.

My work is grounded in empirically based modalities of counseling and psychotherapy and includes but is not limited to.

  • Mindfulness.

  • Attachment theory.

  • Person-Centered.

  • Cognitive and behavioral therapies (CBT).

  • Neurobiologically based modalities Somatic and Polyvagal theory) .

  • Narrative and Feminist theories.

  • Family systems.

  • Trauma informed.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
